What solar looks like in Marianna.

The eye wall came over Marianna as a major hurricane, about half the Florida Public Utilities poles in the area broke, and three weeks after the storm Jackson County was still only about three quarters restored. Acreage changes the answer. With open ground, a ground-mounted array usually beats fighting a shaded or complicated roof. It is easier to clean and service, it keeps the panels off a roof you will eventually replace, and adding capacity later is straightforward. Shops, barns, and well pumps all get counted as loads, not afterthoughts.
Being inland saves you money on hardware. Site wind speeds up here are lower than on the coast, so the racking and attachment engineering costs less than the same array on a barrier island, and there is no salt air chewing on the fasteners. It is one of the few places where Jackson County comes out ahead of the beach.

Yes. The panels do not care who bills you. What changes is how the co-op credits the power you send back, and those rules are their own. On co-op service a battery that stores your excess instead of exporting it is often the better design, and we look at your actual bill before recommending either way.
