Permanent removal

Time to take the system down for good?

Maybe the house is selling and the buyer doesn't want it. Maybe the system's dead. Maybe a storm finished it off. We do the removal: you tell us what you want gone, we shut it down, take it off, and haul it away. $150 per panel.

What it costs

Flat per panel.

$150 per panel.

That covers the safe shutdown, the removal of the panels, racking, inverter, and battery, and hauling it off your property. You point at what you want gone, we take it. If your system's tied to the grid, a licensed electrician handles the disconnect from your utility. If your city needs a permit to pull the system, we tell you before we start.

What happens to the gear.

Straight answer: we don't promise to recycle it. Here's how it actually works.

If your panels still work, are undamaged, and are rated 300W or higher, we may buy them back through Sell Your Gear and knock that off your bill. Good gear is worth money, and you shouldn't pay to throw it away.

Damaged panels, and anything under 300W, go to the dump. Older low-output panels aren't worth refurbishing and there's no real recycling market for them. We won't pretend otherwise.

How a decommission goes.

  1. 1

    Tell us about the system

Fill out the form or call. We need the panel count, the inverter and battery type, whether it’s tied to the grid or off-grid, and what you want removed. Photos of the array and the equipment help.

  2. 2

We quote it and check for a permit

You get a flat per-panel number for what you want gone. If your jurisdiction requires a permit to disconnect a grid-tied system, we find that out and tell you up front. Most don’t.

  3. 3

We shut it down and disconnect it

A licensed electrician safely powers the system down and disconnects it from the grid. Off-grid systems skip the utility step, but the battery still gets handled with care.

  4. 4

We pull what you asked us to

Panels off, racking off, inverter and battery out, rooftop conduit removed. We patch the mount penetrations so you’re not left with a roof full of open holes.

  5. 5

    We haul it away

Everything leaves your property the same day where we can. Working panels worth buying back come with us and get credited. The rest goes to disposal.

What's included.

  • Safe system shutdown and grid disconnect (licensed electrician)
  • Removal of the panels, racking, conduit, inverter, and battery you want gone
  • Patching the roof penetrations where equipment was mounted
  • Haul-away from your property
  • A buy-back offer on any panels that qualify (working, undamaged, 300W and up)

What's not.

  • A new roof or roof repair

Beyond patching the mount points. If you're replacing the roof and keeping the system, you want R&R, not decommission.

  • Recycling guarantees

Qualifying panels get bought back. The rest goes to the dump. We don’t promise recycling we can’t deliver.

  • Settling a financed balance

If your system was leased or bought on a loan, the balance is between you and your lender. We remove the gear you ask us to remove.

Common questions.

Do I need a permit to take my system down?

Depends on your city or county. Some require a permit to disconnect a grid-tied system, some don’t. We check yours before we quote so there’s no surprise.

What happens to my panels?

Working, undamaged panels rated 300W and up, we may buy back and credit toward your bill through Sell Your Gear. Damaged panels and anything under 300W go to the dump. We don't promise recycling we can't deliver.

Can you decommission an off-grid or RV system?

Yes. Off-grid is often simpler since there’s no utility to disconnect from, but the battery still needs safe handling. Tell us what you’ve got and we’ll quote it.

My system’s old but might still work. Should I really scrap it?

Maybe not. If it’s worth saving, we’ll tell you, and a service call might cost less than a teardown. We don’t sell you a removal you don’t need.

What about my financed or leased system?

We take off what you ask us to take off. The loan or lease balance is between you and your lender. If you’re not sure what you can remove, check with them first.

Do you decommission outside the Florida panhandle?

Not yet. We handle the panhandle and parts of south Alabama directly. Email your zip and we’ll tell you if we can reach you or point you somewhere that can.

Done with it? We'll take it down.

Selling the house, scrapping a dead system, or just done with it. Start with a quote.
