Terms of Use

The plain-English rules of the road for buying equipment, ordering a DIY kit, using your account, and using the site. The $500 Pro Install deposit has its own Service Agreement. Effective May 27, 2026.

1. Accepting these terms

apesolar.com is operated by Affordable Photovoltaic Energy LLC, a Florida limited liability company doing business as Ape Solar ("Ape Solar", "we", "us"). By using the site, creating an account, or placing an order, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

A separate Pro Install Service Agreement covers the $500 Pro Install deposit and the project that follows. These Terms apply to everything else: equipment from the shop, DIY kits from the system builder, your account, and the site itself.

2. Who we are

Ape Solar designs, sells, and project-manages residential solar nationwide. We sell solar equipment direct (panels, inverters, batteries, racking, accessories), DIY kits assembled in our system builder, and a full Pro Install service in which a licensed local installer performs the physical install while we run the project. Headquarters: Gulf Breeze, Florida.

3. Orders, pricing, and order acceptance

Prices on apesolar.com are in U.S. dollars and may change at any time before you place an order. Once you place an order, the price you saw is the price we charge for that order. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order, including for pricing errors, suspected fraud, or stock that turns out to be unavailable. If we cancel, we refund anything you paid.

Sales tax is added at checkout where applicable. Shipping is calculated at checkout; freight on large items is an estimate and we confirm the actual freight before any truck is dispatched. If the confirmed freight is materially higher than the estimate, we will tell you in writing and you can approve, cancel, or arrange your own freight.

4. Shipping, pickup, and freight

Most orders ship parcel from Gulf Breeze, FL. Large items (panels, large inverters, batteries) ship by LTL freight. Local pickup is free: walk in at Gulf Breeze, or by arrangement at our partner locations in Knoxville, TN and Atlanta, GA (call first). Freight is by quote and confirmed before dispatch.

Delivery dates are estimates. We do not warrant a specific delivery date and are not responsible for carrier delays, weather delays, or missed deliveries by the freight company. Inspect every freight shipment on arrival. If anything is damaged, note it on the delivery receipt and email us photos within 48 hours so we can file the claim.

5. Returns and refunds (equipment and DIY kits)

New, unused equipment in original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. You pay return shipping unless the item arrived defective or we shipped the wrong thing. Opened items, used items, and items returned past 30 days are accepted at our discretion and may carry a restock fee of up to 15%. Custom-cut wire, items marked "B Grade", and clearance items are not returnable.

Freight items (panels, large inverters, large batteries) are not returnable unless arranged with us in writing before they ship. The cost of return freight is the customer's, and the item must arrive back undamaged in original packaging. Original outbound freight is not refunded.

Refunds go back to the original payment method. Once we receive and inspect the return, we issue the refund within 5 business days. Your bank or card network may add their own processing time.

For the Pro Install $500 deposit specifically, refunds are covered by the Pro Install Service Agreement.

6. DIY installation is on you

If you buy equipment or a DIY kit and install it yourself (or hire someone other than an Ape Solar Installer to do it), you are responsible for everything that involves the install: code compliance, permits, inspection, structural attachment, electrical work, interconnection with your utility, and operating the system safely after PTO. We are happy to answer questions and our docs and builder are designed to make it doable, but we are not your contractor and we are not signing off on your install.

Solar work touches structural and electrical systems. If you are not comfortable doing the electrical work, hire a licensed electrician for that part. If you are not comfortable on a roof, hire someone qualified for the structural attachment. Permits are usually pulled by the installing contractor; if you self-install, you pull your own permits and meet your local inspection requirements.

7. Kit purchases from the system builder

The system builder produces a kit at a customer-facing price based on the components you select. Compatibility checks in the builder are a best-effort tool and are not a guarantee that the system will work for your specific home, your roof, or your utility. If you order a kit and your site needs something different (a different inverter for your panel configuration, a different rail for your roof type, an extra disconnect for your utility), the right move is to call us or pick Pro Install instead.

Kit orders ship the same way as equipment orders. Returns on kit components follow the same return policy in section 5.

8. No federal solar tax credit

The federal residential solar investment tax credit is no longer available. We do not include it in any price, payback estimate, or savings number on the site. If a state, local, or utility rebate applies to your project, we will tell you and help you file the paperwork; we cannot guarantee any specific rebate amount or that any rebate will still be available when your project finishes.

9. Your account

You can use apesolar.com without an account, but signing in (with Google or an email magic link) saves your builds, your order history, and your project status. You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Do not share your sign-in link. If you suspect your account has been used by someone else, contact us immediately.

We may suspend or close an account that is being used to abuse the site, defraud us, or harm other customers.

10. Site content and intellectual property

The text, images, illustrations, the system builder, the roof layout tool, the wiring trainer, and the other tools on apesolar.com are owned by Ape Solar or our partners and are protected by U.S. copyright and trademark law. You can use the site for your own residential project. You may not copy our content, scrape our catalog, or build a competing service from our pages without written permission.

Manufacturer logos, product images, and product datasheets shown on the site are the property of their respective owners and are used with permission or under fair-use for product identification.

11. Limits on our liability

We do our best to make the site, the builder, and the catalog accurate. Specs, prices, stock, and shipping estimates can be wrong or change without notice. The site is provided "as is" without warranties beyond what is required by law.

Our total liability to you for any equipment or kit order is capped at the amount you paid Ape Solar for that order. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages such as lost revenue, lost rebates, increased utility bills, or generator fuel costs.

12. Your end of the bargain

You agree to cover us against any third-party claim that arises out of your self-install, your use of the site outside these Terms, or your violation of any law. That includes the Installer warranty issues for self-installs that we have no role in, and any claim from your utility, your AHJ, or your insurer.

13. Florida law, Santa Rosa County

These Terms are governed by Florida law. Any dispute that we cannot work out by talking goes to the state courts located in Santa Rosa County, Florida, or to small claims court if the amount in dispute qualifies. You agree this is a fair venue.

Each party waives the right to a jury trial in any dispute arising under or related to these Terms. In any action to enforce these Terms, the prevailing party is entitled to recover its reasonable attorneys' fees and costs.

If a court finds any part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

14. Changes to these Terms

We can update these Terms. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. The version that applies to any order is the one in effect on the day you placed the order. The version that applies to your use of the site is the one in effect on the day you used it.

You can request a paper copy of these Terms at any time by emailing contact@apesolar.com.
