Solar in Milton and north Santa Rosa County
Milton properties are bigger, the wells are deeper, and the outages last longer at the edges of the grid. Systems out here get designed around real loads: the well pump, the freezers, the shop out back.
Solar for Milton, done in the open.
Solar in Milton is a different job than solar in a subdivision. More of our Milton customers have acreage, outbuildings, well pumps, and a generator they are tired of feeding. Some want a grid-tied system that cuts the bill. A good number want to lean toward off-grid, and we build both.
We are Ape Solar, based in Gulf Breeze about half an hour south. We design the system, supply the equipment from our warehouse, and manage the install, which is performed by a state-licensed electrical contractor.
We run the project. A licensed contractor does the install.
Ape Solar is veteran owned and locally owned. We design your system, supply the equipment from our own Gulf Breeze warehouse, and manage the job from permit to power-on. The physical install is performed by a state-licensed electrical contractor. Advanced Wire Pros (FL license EC13005911) is our primary contractor of record. They pull the permit and carry the license; we own the result.
Every price is published on this site. Run the system builder and you will see the same numbers we see, part by part, before you ever talk to anyone.
What solar looks like in Milton.
Utility service is split out here. Much of Milton is FPL, and the north end of the county runs on the Escambia River co-op, which sets its own solar interconnection rules. It is on your bill; we design for whichever one you have.
Well pumps change the math. A house on a well needs water when the grid drops, so the battery and inverter get sized to start and run the pump. That is a spec question, and it is the first thing we ask about on a Milton design.
Ground mounts are on the table. With acreage, a ground-mounted array often beats fighting a shaded or complicated roof, and it makes future expansion easy.

Milton questions we actually get.
Do you do off-grid systems in Milton?
Yes. Off-grid and grid-tied both. We will tell you honestly which one your situation calls for, and what each costs, before you commit to anything.
Who does the installation?
A state-licensed electrical contractor. Advanced Wire Pros (FL license EC13005911) is our primary contractor of record. Ape Solar designs the system, supplies the equipment, and runs the project.
Can a battery run my well pump in an outage?
Sized right, yes. Well pumps pull a big surge when they start, so the inverter and battery have to be specced for it. Tell us the pump horsepower and we will do the math with you.
I am on the co-op, not FPL. Does solar still work?
Yes, the panels do not care. What changes is how exported power gets credited, since the co-op runs its own rules. We design around that, and battery systems that store your excess instead of exporting it are often the better fit on co-op service.
