About this item

The Orion XS 12/12-50A is a DC-DC battery charger. 12V input, 12V output, 50A max output current. The job it does is to charge one 12V battery bank from a different 12V source, with full charge-profile control on the output side.

The classic use case is an RV or boat with a starter battery on the alternator and a separate house bank. The alternator can't safely charge a lithium house bank directly (the voltage profile is wrong and the alternator can overheat trying to deliver bulk current the controller can't regulate). The Orion XS sits in between: alternator charges the starter normally, Orion XS pulls from the starter side when the engine's running and pushes a regulated lithium-friendly profile into the house bank.

Smart Bluetooth built in, configured from the Victron app on any phone. Engine-running detection so it only pulls when the alternator is active. Five-year Victron warranty.

Victron MultiPlus 12/3000

Victron MultiPlus 12/3000

The MultiPlus 12/3000 is Victron's inverter/charger built around a 12V battery bank. 3000VA output, roughly 2400W continuous, with a fast-response transfer switch and a powerful charger sized for the bigger 12V house banks common on boats and large RVs. PowerAssist is the feature that earns its keep on shore power. When your shore connection is sized too small for a temporary surge (an air conditioner kicking on while the microwave runs), PowerAssist taps the battery bank to cover the gap, then quietly tops the battery back off when the surge passes. You stay on the shore breaker. The same logic applies on a small generator. Built for 12V house banks. Pair it with a Cerbo GX (or a smaller Victron monitoring controller) and a SmartSolar MPPT for a full Victron stack on a marine or large RV build. Five-year Victron warranty.

Victron MultiPlus 24/3000 (UL1741)

Victron MultiPlus 24/3000 (UL1741)

The MultiPlus 24/3000 is the 24V battery-side version of Victron's 3000VA inverter/charger, with UL1741 listing for US grid-tied applications. 3000VA output, roughly 2400W continuous. Same PowerControl, PowerAssist, and high-speed transfer switch as the rest of the MultiPlus line. 24V banks land in a sweet spot for mid-size systems: lower DC current than a 12V build for the same watts (which means smaller wire and smaller fuses on the battery side), and more inverter options than a small 48V build. Common on serious off-grid cabins, larger marine banks, and farm or shop installs where 48V feels like overkill. UL1741 listing means this machine can be deployed in a US grid-tied install where the AHJ requires a listed inverter. Pair it with the right battery and a Victron Cerbo GX for full ESS functionality. Five-year Victron warranty.

Victron MultiPlus 48/8000

Victron MultiPlus 48/8000

The MultiPlus 48/8000 is the largest single-unit MultiPlus in the lineup. 48V battery side, 8000VA output, roughly 6400W continuous, with a 110A charger for putting energy back into a large battery bank quickly. This is the size of unit you'd reach for on a whole-home off-grid install where one machine handles the load instead of paralleling smaller units. PowerControl lets it share a limited shore or generator input without tripping breakers, and PowerAssist covers transient surges off the battery bank. Up to three of these can be paralleled for ~24kW of continuous capacity on bigger systems. VE.Bus comms tie it to the rest of the Victron stack (Cerbo GX, MultiPlus-II if you're mixing, SmartSolar charge controllers). Five-year Victron warranty.
